Summer Bucket List

Summer is officially over, and I'm checking in on how I did on my bucket list — which is so-so...

1) Get up to the cabin 2-3 times.

Well, we got up once, but for several days. And we did also get to go on a summer road trip, to Heath and Elyse's cabin, primitive camping (Beatrix), a day trip to Duluth (us), a tour through souther MN with Songs of Hope (Beatrix), a day trip to Duluth for a music festival, to a friend's farm, to Hastings for a show in a vineyard, and clamping with Heath and Elyse. And maybe we'll get up to the cabin once more, depending on when my aunt and uncle decide to close it.

2) Go on the swan boats on Como Lake.

Nope.

3) Go to the new Highland development park.

Nope.

4) Have lots of pool parties.

Enthusiastic yes! They were smaller than in past years, but that just meant we really got to talk to people. Awesome!

5) Swim as much as possible.

You would think that, hang  pool, this would be easy. But also nope.

6) Go out for summer ice cream.

Not even once. I miss Izzy's.

7) Eat peaches and/or nectarines.

Yes, but not as many as I should have.

8) Drink rosé.

Yes, for sure.

9) Drink summer cocktails.

Not as many as I would have wanted.

10) Go on walks/hikes.

Very few.

11) See summer shows and events.

Success — Circus Juventas, Mixed Precipitation, Park Square, L'Homme Dieu, Wicked tour, and several Fringe shows, Songs of Hope, Irish Fair, Dinner in White, Josh Malina's tour, State Fair, Water is Life. Happy to be back at live shows!

12) Summer vacation.

The trip to North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and South Dakota (and 4 national parks!) was a huge success until Beatrix got covid. I have now been to 49 states — Alabama is the only one left.

13) Gardening.

Some.

14. Lying in the hammock reading, and/or sunbathing.

Nope. Not once.

15. Visit 10 museums.

I think we made it to one.

16. Go to a Saints game (or even the Twins)

Nope.

Plus all 3 of us got covid, we lost a cat, Patrick rigged All The Time, I picked up some clients and worked a lot, we got foster kittens, we had several late night drinks/dinners at Em Que Viet, we had a few sets of friends come and stay, and we got a lot of work done at Summit (a new roof, fence repair, porch repair). I was maybe a good friend to some and a not-good-enough one to others, and din't get as much time with people as I wanted.

It wasn't summer *enough,* but I'll take it.
