24 Hours of Family Fun

Our family fun days started with The Life of a Showgirl, at our neighborhood movie theater The Riverview, on Friday

On Saturday, we headed up north for one of our patented "Duluth Day Trips" — this time, there was a twist as Rethos was hosting its first "Doors Open" in Duluth. It's a free event, we love Rethos, and we love seeing behind the scenes historic buildings, so a total win.

We stopped for rolls at Tobie's, but were nevertheless hungry when we got there. So we parked by Bent paddle (which I have still never been to), and grabbed lunch at Hungry Hippie Tacos, which was SO good!

We did a little shopping, at then made our Doors Open stops:

The Duluth Press building, now short term rentals (I would totally stay there!)

The old bank, now Kraus-Anderson's Duluth HQ, which still maintains the old safe

The Masonic Temple (so cool for me, as a woman, to see the inside!)

And the Art Center (a former Carnegie Library)

We also did some shopping in Lincoln Park, stopping in at Frost River to see the bear and looking at some other projects in process

Before heading to Wild State to get some cider and soft serve and pick up merch at their totally hopping garage sale

And Ursa Minor for some beer (thanks to the random guy who gave us some tokens for free beer)

Shopping at the antique mall and Global Village (Beatrix's faves), before hitting the beach for awhile

And also the Lakewalk, before dinner at Sir Benedict's

And to Vikre for some cocktails

And another view of the lake before heading back

As usual, there was too much to do and not enough time to do it all and see folks, so I guess we have to go back soon. In the meantime, thanks Rethos for putting on such a great event that encouraged us to come up — and to spend lots in food, drink, and shopping!
