Another Day of Sun

Because what better time to post about our amazing California trip than when I am back and wishing we were still on it?

We started in LA, where our hotel (The Magic Castle Inn) was just a few blocks from central Hollywood, so we got to see the Oscar staging, and the various tents for the parties, being set up.

We also got to spend time at both Venice and Santa Monica beaches — Venice was funkier, but Santa Monica better to lay out at.

Even the Trader Joe's was fun!

The theme seemed to be "light" as we went to both the Griffith Observatory at night and Chris Burden's "Urban Light" installation.

We finally got to the Getty — we were supposed to go Tu but it was closed due to an explosion in  the parking lot so had to go Wed on our way out of town.

MOST importantly, we got to have dinner one night with our friends Jay and Lou at their lovely home (these are people I know from the Cricket Theatre, which shows how long-lasting the friendship is. And we got to take my cousin's daughter Sunni, who is in college at Occidental, out to dinner.

And there were about a million friends who we did NOT get a chance to see, so next time we go I'm going to have to be more proactive and reach out in advance and see more of you! (We're hoping that happens sooner rather than later...)
