Bandits on the Run (Attend)

Our friends Liz, Brian, and Huxley have introduced us to so many wonderful things — they are fantastic and we are so lucky to know them. 

Last year, they encouraged us to join them to see their friends, a group called Bandits on the Run, when they came here to play at the Bryant Lake Bowl. We immediately became big fans. So here, stop now and queue up one of their songs (I recommend starting with Love in the Underground or You Have Changed). I'll wait. Enjoy this picture while you listen.


Ok, you're back?


So this week, they started a big tour and come here to play at The Entry. As soon as we found out they were coming, we asked if they needed a place to stay, and they did.

So that's how we need up with some Bandits showing up at our place Monday night for an awesome pizza party.

Everyone seemed to have a great time here, swimming and hanging out with the dogs (they did a song for Ernie!) and talking and hanging out.

And how we experienced an absolutely amazing concert last night with Bandits on the Run and their openers, Christopher and Siena Sears.

I think Adrian, Sydney, and Regina appreciated hearing their opening act too.


And look at Liz, in her element, taking photos and connecting people. She is so damn creative.

The Bandits on stage were absolutely incandescent. They are amazing performers — musicians and theater people and thinkers and creators. They are incredibly generous with their audiences. The concert was AMAZING.

I needed a couple of days of creativity and incredible people.


If you're in a city they are playing in for the rest of their tour, you HAVE to go see them. Really, I thought of driving to Spring Green to see them tonight.

New York (Area) College Visits

Though we have had a lot of fun and spent time with friends this trip (more on that later), the main reason was COLLEGE VISITING and we hit that out of the park! We started bright and early Wednesday with Sarah Lawrence, which is where we learned not to trust how long Maps says it takes to get somewhere because east coast traffic suddenly gets a lot longer while you are driving (I had kind of forgotten about that). We arrived late, but still within the info session. When we started on the tour we realized how magical this lovely little campus is (perhaps right around the time we turned the corner to see the deer grazing on the hillside). We loved the thoughtful way the school goes about scheduling and the great social sense. It was a wonderful way to start college visits! After a delicious sushi lunch, we headed over to Hofstra, which was quite a contrast. So Patrick and I just finished our #yearcompass books (which got delayed for all kinds of reasons this year, the main part being when Quickbooks Online locked me out for days and I had to rebuild everything, but I digress. The final part of the process is to set your word for the year — so much better than a resolution. Last year, my word was BUILD, and I do think I spent a lot of the year building in many ways — physical projects, building clients, building relationships... This year, my word was going to be GROW. But *maybe* in this case the delay was good. Because I don't know if I can dedicate myself to growing in 2025. I might just need to try to stay sane. (and also I had a tarot session on New year's Eve that did not make "Grow" seem like the best choice.) So after a lot of back and forth, my word became "ATTEND," and I like that a lot.
