Cabin Weekend

Talk about a perfect cabin weekend!

We arrived midday Saturday after a quick stop at Flour and Flower on the way. The first thing we did, after getting settled, was to head to Vintage Village to see Jerry, pet the animals, and check out what new things he had for sale.

Then we headed back to the cabin to hang out and wait for our friend Paul to come over for dinner. Since we only hung out for 5 hours talking I don't know if we had enough to discuss, but at least the sunset was perfect....

The next day Patrick and I did a quick run to the store in Long Prairie before Beatrix drove us to Freeport to check out Hemker Zoo. We went with our friends the Chelimskys, who are like minor royalty there, and enjoyed several hours of seeing the animals, feeding giraffes, feeding budgies, and more.

We then took them to Carlos Creek, where we enjoyed lovely food and wine.

And then back to the cabin, where we made some peeps s'mores

And looked for Northern Lights (so close but so far...)

Another trip to Vintage Village today — look, you can feed the horse for free rather than paying to feed a giraffe!

And then Tip Top Dairy Bar on the way home.

So many things we did not get to do in 48 hours there but so many things we did — so like I said, just about perfect in every way!
