Election Season

"I CAN'T WAIT until the election has happened and all this is done!" groused my local wine store owner when I stopped in today. "The ads, the signs, the arguments, it's all too much!" And I see where he's coming from.

Yet at the same time, it's all so important.

It's so important that Beatrix spent weeks researching how to vote — and sent the ballot back with us because she (wisely) does not trust the mail.

It's so important that when or flight arrived home at 7:35am on Sunday and I realized our #momsrising postcards had arrived while we were gone, I brought all 100 of them to yoga with me so I could write them and send them out that day.

It's so important that when I was invited to a screening of Gene McCarthy: Alone In the Land of the Aardvarks tonight, I declined watching the livestream of Rent to go.

(and the amazing Judy Collins even attended and sung a few songs!)

The film is not quite done (you can help with finishing funds here — and you'll be really glad you did!), but it really hit me hard. I was just a baby during the 1968 election, but digging deep into that story for a couple of hours made me reflect a lot about our current political system. More to come on that later, or better yet, in person.

So you may be sick of the campaigning, but be sure you get out and VOTE on November 3 or before!

(like Beatrix, I have some well-researched and firm thoughts about how you should vote if you want to talk them over...)
